Ameedah Rashid, MA, MSW, LISW, CCTS-J
Ameedah Rashid, MA, MSW, LCSW, LISW, CCT-S is a Licensed Independent Social Worker in Maryland and the District of Columbia. She is also a Clinically Certified Juvenile Treatment Specialist and a Certified Life Coach. She has 34 years of experience working with individuals, children, families, couples, trauma cases, and sexual assault victims.
Mrs. Rashid received a Bachelor of Arts degree in Psychology from Fisk University, and Master of Arts (Educational Counseling) and Master of Social Work (with a specialization in clinical intervention with children and families) degrees from the University of Michigan. She completed a post-graduate externship in Marriage and Couples Counseling and has extensive training in play therapy, energy and sensory therapy and hypnotherapy.
Over the course of her extensive career Mrs. Rashid has combined the skill sets acquired through her training in counseling, psychotherapy and life coaching to serve individuals and families adversely affected by distress and emotional trauma, and children from pre-school through high school whose emotional, social and psychological challenges have placed them at great risk. She has been an elementary and high school teacher, counselor and social worker, and a university instructor and counselor. She has worked in educational settings in the United States, North Africa and the Middle East. She also worked as a Child Behavioral Consultant for public, private and charter schools. Mrs. Rashid has worked as a mental health therapist with adults, adolescents, children and families in medical and psychiatric hospitals, out patient mental health clinics, as well as in group private practices. She has been a mental health administrator for a Maryland adolescent day treatment and addictions program and a District of Columbia child and adolescent violence prevention program.
As a Family Wellness Specialist Mrs. Rashid assists working parents who are facing the life challenges of balancing their professional and personal lives while trying to meet transitions in their families. She is especially committed to working with Muslim Families who are experiencing life transitions while trying to balance responsibilities to their families and faith.
Mrs. Ameedah Rashid has been a practicing Muslimah for 32 years and has worked throughout this time with and on behalf of Muslim families through personal, volunteer and professional venues, nationally and internationally.
